➙ Food

One must eat...an important way to understand a people and a place is to eat their food, at restaurants, private kitchens, supermarkets, cafes. The first weeks we ate all of our meals out, together with all the artists in the group. Our lunch was eaten at a small cafe, with daily specials of meat, soup, salad and other dishes. We ate our dinner at the hotel, again the daily special of meat, sometimes with soup and salad, always with wine and sometimes with giant bowls of ice cream.

After the artists went back home, our diet shifted to Rado's Italian cooking: pasta, pizza and salad prepared and consumed at his mother's family house around the corner from the gallery.
